For a long time now, I had spotted the remarkable places in the marshes to the west of Saintes Marie de la Mer which were especially expressive out of the summer season. I wanted to tell an "animal" story that could echo what our humanity is currently experiencing. A need for freedom, expression, action, games and sharing. I knew that these Camargue horses left to fend for themselves on the beaches could embody these aspirations. On Friday October 2, 2020, storm Alex hit the South of France very hard. The next day, the weather was still very rough and the sky particularly changeable.
