Based on 16th Century Dutch paintings - Momento Morituri or Vertitas (reminders of death). There a various signs such as the skull, the dying flows, the un finished meal with overturned glass and the half consumed bottle; the time piece; and the writing and book abandoned. I added to the usual tropes; the decay on the food, the reflection of the skull - and in response to the early reports of Covid-19 I included a gas-mask shrouded in red.
