At the Jaflong stone mines in Bangladesh many of the workers are women and girls. The intensive labour endured here appears equal however the women earn significantly less per day to their male counterparts. Children born into this industry begin working at a very young age, leaving them no choice but to sacrifice their health, their childhood and any chance of an education. These hazardous conditions can even cost them their lives. Whilst it’s cumbersome work these females endure, it is sometimes all they know, it is their livelihood, they are grateful and still some have the energy to smile!
