The Poetry of Lines

  • Photographer
    Daria Martinoni
  • Photo Date
    Spring of 2018

This work explores the narratives of the fragment, resisting the self evidence of mere recognition, seeking the seductive and the ambiguous. It plays with the design elements of reduction and repetition. The reduction to lines and surfaces creates a simple beauty, repetition creates complexity, the minimalist approach inspires the imagination, the interaction of sunlight and materials arouses emotion. Reduction to the essential is used to create beauty, repetition and variation are used to dynamically constitute meaning.

Daria Martinoni is a non-professional photographer working and living in Zurich, Switzerland. As a Geographer, she uses photography to playfully (de)construct the built urban environment we live in in order to explore our perception of space (and reality). She experiments with long shutter speeds and several zoom settings in one exposure. With this approach, she aimes at questioning our making of the world through experience and knowledge.
