After being diagnosed with cancer my 18 year old niece, and subsequently going through chemo therapy, she asked me to have a photoshoot with her. We took a lot of classical serious looking model pictures, but suddenly she wanted to playfully defy what superficial standards the modeling industry imposes. She pulled of her wig and started having fun with the absurdity of the situation.

I learned my photographic craft from the photographer and filmmaker Valentin Schwab. Over the last years I increasingly have abstracted my visual language. In my current work, I use abstract photographs to explore the representation of the subliminal, the ineffable, and the ephemeral.
