‘becoming a butterfly' is a chapter-wise exploration of different farming communities as they strive to preserve their cultural identity, their livelihoods, and the vital local plants disappearing from their kitchens due to climate change. This series is a mix of portrait photography and collage using real plants to create the final image. The project's name is a metaphor: think of it like this: a caterpillar enters a cocoon and emerges as a butterfly. The project visualises farmers’ identities through their crops to tell their story of struggle and resilience.
