Oh Honey (2025), part of The Forbidden Fruit Project, explores sexuality and how women are spoken to. The phrase “oh honey” conveys both intimacy and condescension, reflecting contradictory expectations of womanhood. The project presents photographs of vulvae crafted from fruits and vegetables, confronting taboos and exposing what’s been hidden or shamed. These dripping, intimate forms invite viewers to question cultural norms, media ideals, and ongoing restrictions on women’s bodies, rights, and identities.
nniina Joki Master of Arts, 2014, University of Rovaniemi, Finland I am a Finnish photographer and teacher based in Zurich. With my art, I want to take a stand and highlight social issues that concern me, while at the same time sharing the inner landscapes of my mind and the beauty I perceive around me. My photography moves between critical reflection and poetic observation, aiming to make the invisible visible.
