This is a nightscape of Mt. Bukō and a cement factory in Chichibu, Japan, taken the night after snowfall. The summit of the mountain, exposed by decades of limestone mining, reflects the snow clearly without being hidden by trees. In this single frame, the coexistence of human industry — carving and transforming the mountain — and the quiet presence of Mt. Bukō, which has watched over this land through generations, is captured. It is a dialogue between nature and livelihood, between permanence and transformation.
