For hours, the sparrowhawk had sat motionless in the branches of the old tree. With watchful eyes, he observed his surroundings, attentive and patient, as is his nature. Nothing escaped his gaze—no sound, no movement in the undergrowth. Then he pushed off from the branch and flew down into the depths. After landing, he stretched, spreading his wings wide as if to release the tension of his long stillness.
