On a winter hike up Mount Akagi, the trail was buried in deep snow, swallowing my legs above the knees with every step. Amid the freezing air, I encountered this scene—snow sculpted by wind into forms resembling crashing waves. Harsh yet breathtaking, it felt as if nature itself had created a frozen seascape. I hope this image conveys both the severity and the beauty of Akagi’s midwinter landscape.
My name is Genki Uehara. I am a photographer based in Mount Akagi, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, mainly capturing the beautiful nature of Mount Akagi and the surrounding Gunma region.
