I took this photograph almost two years ago on the National Mall in Washington, DC. It was one of the first protest marches of the Gaza-Israeli War and it was a completely peaceable demonstration. Most of the marchers were first-time activists, and there was no violence, no name-calling, no visible hatred. Only sadness.

I am a native New Yorker, an audio editor, and the author of three non-fiction books, one of which, The Cowboy Catalog, became a best-seller. I have a degree in French Literature and Journalism from New York University, but my greatest teacher has been New York City itself. Exiled now to Washington, DC, my mind and heart still run on New York time. That means I love drama, action, noise, the off-beat and outspoken, the theatre of the street. Tell me you see any of these in my photographs and I will be your friend for life.
