On the night of January 28, a 100-meter cargo ship, carrying Carrara marble gravel, left the port of Marina di Carrara, Italy. Strong winds and rough seas pushed it off course, destroying part of a pier in Marina di Massa. The next morning, diesel barrels were found washed ashore, fortunately intact. Once again, nature reminds us of its power, a power we should face with humility. We still fail to realize we are only guests on this planet, and with our impact, we risk harming nature and destroying what we’ve built, like this pier.
After an academic and working career as an aerospace engineer, I realized I needed a change, for a life focused on expression and art, something I feel is my true purpose and that could help others by shedding light on unseen situations. With no small effort, I left it all behind and I’m now on the path to becoming a professional photographer, actively studying and improving my skills and my portfolio while blending my love for storytelling to create something meaningful and authentic.
