The editorial was inspired by Barbara Hulanicki's make-up looks and the girls who represented the so-called "BIBA look" at the time. It is part of my long-term project "Beauty through the ages". Her cosmetics line is considered to be the forerunner of today's cosmetics brands, specialising in striking and dramatic make-up looks for all skin tones. I was immediately fascinated by Barbara Hulanicki's story, especially because her example shows that even in earlier decades, influences from older and more recent history have always inspired people to create art and express themselves.
I am an emerging German photographer based in Düsseldorf, specialising in beauty photography. After graduating from the University of Applied Sciences Niederrhein with a degree in Communication Design, I founded my own scouting agency and worked for three years with a large network of well-known model agencies to place new face models worldwide. The lack of time to pursue my true passion, photography, led to a change of direction. After gaining experience as an assistant in London, I now work as a freelance photographer and am about to finish my Masters in Photographic Studies.
