Usually, you cannot see comets over the Manhattan skyline with your naked eye due to all the light produced by the buildings. But because NEOWISE was the brightest comet since Comet Hale-Bopp, which, according to NASA, flew by Earth 23 years ago in 1997, I could undoubtedly see the comet during the break of dawn.NEOWISE was like a giant icy snowball melting into the morning lights on during the captivating magic hour. I hope this stunning, early morning photo will make you happy- even if it's for a moment. Thank you, Shintaro Ueyama
I am a New York–based photographer originally from Nara, Japan. Since 2010, I have pursued photography independently, using the city as a stage to explore the relationship between urban landscapes and natural light. My work balances stillness and movement, shaped by a Japanese sense of aesthetics and an intuitive response to New York’s energy. In portraiture, I avoid excessive direction, focusing on the moment when a subject naturally blends into their surroundings. Through light, shadow, and space, I create images that feel both immediate and timeless. Thank you, Shintaro Ueyama
