Fall is such an amazing and often overwhelming time to shoot – huge forests and landscapes just explode with color. There are so many hikes, drives and stunning lookouts to view this miracle of nature from, but I needed to blaze my own trail off the beaten path. As a photographer, I wanted more – a totally different perspective that I always strive for. Sometimes it’s the things in life we don’t see that are often the most beautiful. Discovering this scene within a scene really stopped me in my tracks. The delicate, bright red leaves were juxtaposed against the hard texture of the rich, black shiny rock. A shower of rain added the final touch to this palette, offering real contrast and depth to this often overlooked world.
