My current photographic series “Documenting the Second Generation: Daughters of Holocaust Survivors” combines contemporary studio portraits with European landscapes and family photographs saved from destruction during the Holocaust creating tableaus of these women as inheritors of the enduring trauma of genocide, as well as the strength passed down from their parents. Photographs of women who identify as “second generation” and are affected by the experience of their parents and family, serve as a new form of visual genocide narrative. This work explores the humanity of the victims of the Holocaust and their relationships with their descendants.
