“Torn,” my latest series, is an evolution: photography rendered modern art. Taking my photomontage concept to new textural dimensions, I repurposed photographs, papers and textiles, often found in pop culture. I intentionally tear, crumple and compose to create abstract form that is structured, yet improvisational. Next, I photograph the raw media to upend and complete the creative process. Disguised elements, forms and silhouettes often surface within the composition.
