his is a study of the possibilities of shooting high performance action sports with studio lights. I was lucky enough to work with some of the best athletes in the world what allowed me to try all my ideas and experimentations in a variety of sports like motocross, kiteboarding and skimboarding. It's a challenge to find the good conditions for these type of shots. The shooting results are as much natural as it is to the real environment, photos are retouched to a minimum level.This is a unique technique, much more used in studios, and that I developed and adapted for outdoor practices.

Since I’ve always been into sports it was a natural step to start shooting my friends doing sports. I quickly noticed that shooting during “the golden hour” led to shots I liked more. But then I started shooting sports like skateboarding and it’s very hard to talk skateboarders into waking up at 5am to get that good light. That was when I started studying artificial light. Nowadays I travel with a pretty big amount of gear and place flashes where I probably shouldn’t be placing to get the shots you see here.
