This gallery of portraits tells of the animals that marked my childhood. I chose to focus on their posture and silhouette, their movement. To bring out the main lines that build these encounters through contrast. What the light draws on a coat or a plumage gives me the subject, the frame, the field of action. The black. The slate of the school board on which I print my collection of portraits. A black suit of wild and familiar animals, serious as indifference, thick as nostalgia and dense as timelessness. Remember this moment of grace, sketch it; it belongs to you alone.
