The Urbe series depicts the city as a metaphor. It takes the iconography of the built environment to emphasize photography as a language, as a means capable of informing and deluding at the same time. The blurring of the buildings, the absence of people, the unreality of colors as well as the imprecision of shapes allude to the idea of mirage, of deception. The images aproach dystopia, the cityscape as a shelter for dreams and desires that fade in the passage of time.

Photographer and architect, José Roberto Bassul lives in Brasília. He has received several awards, including the 1st place at the Int'l Photography Awards 2018 and the title of Book Photographer of the Year at the Moscow Int'l Foto Awards 2020. He has works in important private and public collections such as the National Museum of the Republic in Brasília, the Museum of Photography in Fortaleza, and MAR - Museum of Art of Rio de Janeiro.
