Nature plays an important role in my portraits, often in the form of flowers, insects and fruit. There is a strong desire in my work for beauty and wholeness, for silence… Not only will you see beauty by adding elements such as flowers and needlework (I often hand sew into the printed photograph: mixed & stitched photography), but underneath you will also find the hidden perishability and pain, a bittersweet reality…
