This photographic series addresses the feeling of individual choking caused by our numerous virtual relations. These dramatic portraits propose a reflection upon the constant need of approval when we share every detail of our lives while seeking for popularity. I AM ONLINE is about how we see ourselves and how we are seen, how we create masks and realities that do not belong to us. The multicolored lines can be regarded as the connecting thread of the artist’s experimentation that stems from the construction of real human installations.

Gabriel Wickbold (Rio de Janeiro, 1984) started his career as a photographer in 2006, after having worked with poetry and music. Along his trajectory, Wickbold produced 6 author photo series and has in his curriculum exhibitions in São Paulo, New York, Stockholm, Lisbon, London and Miami. Currently, more than 15 of his works are part of permanent collections in important museums, such as Erarta (Saint Petersburg, Russia) and MAB (São Paulo, Brazil).
