In January 2020 the Youth Olympic Winter Games were held in Lausanne. Among other sports the women ice hockey tournament took place. During this time I had the chance to photograph the Japanese team which ultimately took the gold medal. I was very impressed how they played against teams that were physically much stronger and from countries where ice hockey is much more developed. It was amazing to see how they introduced their own culture like bowing as a sign of respect after each goal or at the end of the game.
