Following the racial reckoning in America, a group of activists occupied the plaza in front of the state Capitol in Nashville for 62 days. Protesting police brutality and racism. On July 4, 23 days into the occupation, they engaged in an act of civil disobedience by not complying with the state police orders to leave Capitol grounds. These fearless women resisted arrest by holding on to each other. Fifty-five people were arrested and shackled for Independence Day. In total over 200 arrests were made during this two-month protest.
