The Fashion Statement Todd Bradley What are we saying in our appearance? Is this statement because you want to, or because you have to? Sometimes we get dressed to feel empowered; by looking smart or tough, perhaps sexual. Other times, it is to please some else, maybe fool gender expectations, to stand out, or to blend in. For many, this mask is a daily survival technique to navigate through life. Using the Covid-19 “pandemic mask” as a starting point, I have taken self-portraits. Through the use of clothing I explore these masks and (how do we want to be viewed VS how we are seen).
