D.R. Mehta established the BMVS, Jaipur Foot, in 1975. Today, the world's largest organization rehabilitating over 1.55 million. All its assistance, including custom-made artificial limbs, leg braces and other aids are provided free of charge. Receiving a limb and necessary aid empowers the patients to regain self-respect and become fully integrated, contributing members of their communities, achieving goals that would otherwise be unattainable.

Barbara Gracner is a documentary and portrait photographer from Slovenia. She attended a documentary and photojournalism photography program at the International Center of Photography in New York, where she received the George and Joyce Moss Scholarship.
