Bigg Frankii is the most famous Creole reggae singer on Mauritius Island. Only 22 years old he sings from his head and heart, he cannot read or write. His story has inspired this tiny Indian Ocean island, with 7 million YouTube hits even though the entire population is less than 1 million. This series is an exploration of what the public sees and what is the reality of his life, living in an iron shack on the side of the freeway. Forced to sing at weddings to pay the bills, the photographs illuminate his twin realities, the mega-hit star of cigars and pool parties, and a more humble existence.

Grit, extremity, people living lives full of truth and sustenance is what i live for. Their stories, unique and interesting, is what i try to show.
