On June 17, 2019 an estimated 2 million protesters flooded the streets of Hong Kong, a week after more than 1 million marched against proposed extradition legislation. Braving hot weather and dressed in black, people from all walks of life, every age, and profession walked peacefully in a demonstration of solidarity. Coming from every corner of the city and immobilizing public transport, the citizens voiced their opinion against the controversial legislation, the outbreak of violence earlier in the week and paid their respects to a protester that had fallen while hanging a banner.
