Yume - Yamaguchi, JapanWhile living in Japan, I stayed at the Akiyoshidai International Art Village. Inspired by the architectural designs of Arata Isozaki I witnessed my surroundings become a precise calculation, and began to see shapes created from the geometric structure I lived in. I had never seen the world as an optical illusion before–Light and shadow painted triangles, lines, and squares on every corner and edge of each room, reminding me that my environment, reality, our world is altogether greater than the sum of its parts. I discovered a true essence of synergy in Japan.Finding myself interlaced in a landscape of graphic shapes and abstract textures my reality soon became, Yume, meaning dream in Japanese. The series is presented with multiple images printed and mounted separately. Together creating a large scale photographic mosaic mural.
