Panamanian-American Kenneth Darlington, 77, shoots Abdiel Díaz Chávez, a teacher, after failing to keep moving on the Pan American Highway in Chame, Panama, during the massive demonstrations, which lasted a month, against open-air mining in the country. Darlington killed in cold-blood not only one but two Panamanians, a teacher, and a relative of one. Thousands of citizens demanded that President Laurentino Cortizo's government revoke the mining contract signed with Minera Panama, a subsidiary of Canadian First Quantum Minerals.
