These images are part of a series I have been photographing featuring the human side of nonprofessional kickboxing fight-events. Rather than centering the perspective and the interests of the promotional company, these photographs center the perspective of the fighters, of the people who are the main participants of the event. The pictures reflect intimate moments, preparation, internal struggles and victories, as opposed to sensationalism and the spectacle of fight. The pictures are personal portraits taken in moments of action.

I am a female author and documentary photographer, working at the crossroads of art and documentary. I was born and raised in Hungary, I am currently based in the US. Over the past three years I have been photographing a free-lance project in Haiti, titled Lives in Revolution, which, while not shying away from showing challenges, tells stories of daily life in Haiti without a sensational or victimizing tone.
