I took this shot in the Eyup Sultan Mosque in September 20222. What attracted me to this scene was the role reversal between a muslim man and a woman. The bride is sitting on the window sill with her uncovered hair (not allowed in a mosque), while her groom is sitting below her on the carpet in the section reserved for women only - making the bride seem the more powerful of the two. The bright white light shining through the bride's gown is giving us a glimmer of hope where muslim women will be treated as equals by men.
