My images are both a response and an observation of plants that thrive within my environment. I’m interested in lines, shapes, texture, patterns and vibrant colors that I emphasize in my botanical images. I challenge the way they are traditionally perceived as I experiment, combine and explore these ideas through photography and painting. I digitally manipulate my images to create a unique perspective of my environment. By intensifying the colors, I enhanced and bring attention to their beauty.

Jessica Perez was born and raised in Northern California. From an early age her curiosity and admiration for the natural world has been a profound source of inspiration and joy which she expresses through her art. She focuses on observations of plants that she interprets through abstraction. She is currently working on digitally manipulated photographic works which focus on collections of plants that began in her mother's garden. Subsequently this expanded to other plants throughout California. She attended California State University Chico, where she completed her Bachelors in Fine Art.
