I was in an overnight hide at a game preserve in South Africa staring into the featureless night when a White Rhinoceros mother and her calf emerged quietly from the darkness and began cautiously to drink. Such a fantastic sight and to be able to see them so nearby and to watch them interact with each other without disturbing their relationship was such a pleasure. The southern sub-species White Rhino, have make a strong comeback due to massive conservation efforts after near extinction. They are still considered endangered though and poaching sadly continues.
