Every time I am in Japan I try to add images to this ongoing street photo project. Its a common misconception that the mask are to protect from pollution. In Japan, white masks are a common sight. People are wearing these face coverings for health reasons, it is considered that these masks are protecting one self and others from catching cold or other diseases. Shrines, temples, girls in kimonos, neon lights, sakura blossoms and Mount Fuji are as "iconic Japanese" as these white masks that is why I wanted to do a photo project based around the white masks.
