A protester defaces the Hong Kong emblem after thousands of protesters broke into the Legislative Council building, or Legco, in Hong Kong late on July 1, 2019. Anti-government protesters stormed the parliament building of the semi-autonomous city, after successfully smashing their way through reinforced glass windows and forcing open metal shutters that were blocking their way. They proceeded to break into the debating chamber of the building, where they spray-painted the Bauhinia emblem of the city with black paint and defaced the rest of the building with graffiti.
