Eucalyptus macrocarpa

There are over 700 different species of Eucalyptus in Australia and Eucalyptus macrocarpa is a one of my favourite Eucalyptus that grows in Western Australia. When I first saw this amazing large flower and its fruit/capsule, I couldn't believe how beautiful and unique they were. The capsule looks like a space ship and the flower is so gently and sweet. I just love its raw beauty and uniqueness.

Mayumi Kataoka is a Sydney based photographer. Mayu attempts to express the subtlety of Japanese themes in her photography of Australian native trees. Her work is finding the common place between the rough beauty of the Eucalyptus and the understated order of Japanese art. She has held exhibitions in Sydney/Rome/London.
