Abstract Concrete

  • Photographer
    Josè Roberto Bassul

“Abstract Concrete” is an homage to Oscar Niemeyer, one of the most important architects in the world, deceased in 2012. Formed only by curves and minimalist lines, almost abstract, the images are articulated by two references: the concretist movement in Brazilian art, contemporary of Brasilia’s construction, and the creative process of the architect, who used to synthesize his ideas with a few lines on a sheet of paper.

Photographer and architect, José Roberto Bassul lives in Brasília. He has received several awards, including the 1st place at the Int'l Photography Awards 2018 and the title of Book Photographer of the Year at the Moscow Int'l Foto Awards 2020. Published in Brazil, France, USA, England, Mexico, Argentina, Italy and Spain, his work has been frequently shown in dozens of solo or collective exhibitions. He has works in important private and public collections such as the National Museum of the Republic in Brasília, the Museum of Photography in Fortaleza, and MAR - Museum of Art of Rio de Janeiro.
