Those Illuminated 采采眾光 Photography Installation and Interview recording (Interviews conducted with Michal Grzegorzewski ) The Chinese title of this series (采采眾光) comes from the decomposition of the word color (彩). In traditional Chinese seal script, the word color (彩) is composed with 采 , meaning “to collect” and 彡 meaning “light (光) and shadows”. Hence, the collection of Those Illuminated. They came to this island with their family backgrounds. Their decisions changed certain corners of the island, also rewrote the story of that island. This series focuses on eight people who came from foreign countries to settle and marry in taiwan. By exposing them to light painting photography, photographer RoHsuan Chen sets out to collect the cultural color of their personal objects revealing through the process the inherent cultural variations underlying their cross-culture integration.

RoHsuan Chen // Photographer The more life answered, the more questions heaved and tossed. Most of my works are about collecting and documenting fragments through a foreign eye, consciously selecting the anomalies from the routine and framing those instants into a personal fiction and yet a public true story. When moments are made monumental, subjects as well as viewers see the flickering verses echoing in their personal fictions.
