"up to here and no further"

Diversity of tradition is what I discovered in Opuwo. In native Herrero language Opuwo means "up to here and no further". Located in the north-west of Namibia, the remote settlement warrants about this last shopping stop. During shopping in the supermarket everybody was elaborately dressed representing their tribe or heritage. The Himba, a semi-nomadic tribe, statuesque with intricately-adorned ochre skin and hairdos created using goat hair, butter and mud coexist with their counterpart the Herero tribe dressed in flamboyant victorian outfits. The series captures the energy of the unexpected and shows how traditional cultures adopt modern lifestyle.
