In the picture the wild ducks break the ice cover of the oxbow of river Tisza near the town of Csongrád. This small town is situated in the south of the Hungarian Great-Plain. Each winter at the backwater of the river Tisza named Serházzug numerous birds gather near the outlet of the warm thermal baths. One snowy morning I was flying over the mallards who cut a path for themselves on the half frozen snowy ice to the backwater’s inner open water. The photograph captured in this way is made interesting by the scene of snow falling across and lightning - like paths in the ice.
