During the Song Dynasty there was an old custom among upper class which is young women pursue to modification the shape and size of their feet. Bound feet was considered as a symbol of beauty. In my family history I found grandma had bound feet (also called lotus feet). I did survey and learned there still exist some old women in deep mountain of Guizhou who have lotus feet. I flew to there and interviewed with them. At their younger age foot binding was almost 100% among upper-class Chinese society. It's to tie the feet to an extremely painful form which also limit the mobility. The impact is
