We can easily observe the caterpillar and the butterfly. The attention of Ana Tornel is however drawn by the pupa, one of the most spectacular stages of mutation that nature offers. Her nymphs are human because our live is curd pupae, periods of changes of all kinds, physical and psychological. The photographer tries to capture the almost incessant struggle in which soul and matter face. While observing the body poses thru the lens, she attempts to reveal the spirit living inside. This operation occurs smoothly, in complicity and harmony with the model, who stop being model to become himself.

After completing a degree in Photography in Paris Ana pursued her professional career as a freelance photographer. Her works have been published in press and books and shown in exhibitions in Europe and America. She discovered the Wet Plate process in 2012. By using this historical process, she explores a different aesthetic in photography, and finds the poetic and oneiric material necessary to give shape to her subjective world. In 2014 she was in Residence of Artist at Malicot Studio (book) In 2016, 2017 and 2018 she coordinated the Résidence of Artist of the Revela-T Festival in Barcelona
