Visually, my work focuses on the use of controlled external lighting where I experiment with color and technique. Conceptually, my pieces emanate from feelings of isolation and paranoia that I have experienced as the result of an anxiety disorder. I create somber, dark tones throughout my work to convey the constant tension ever present in my own life. In this specific image, I attempt to capture an aspect of what art is for me. Art allows me to pass through my mental health barriers and connect with others, even though I may not be fully able to get through, art helps me get closer.
