A modern recreation of the 1906 Earthquake that caused the death of 3000 and an unimaginable magnitude of destruction. 42 seconds of uncontrolled turbulence. But would these people ever know that the lives of their family, life-long savings, future livelihood would be obliterated? In this photo, I relive the wrath of nature, furious at civilization, industrialization of man, and his exploitation of nature in impunity. I vividly experience how even the greatest of human constructs are utterly powerless in the face of Mother Nature. To achieve the long exposure, I used a Neutral Density filter and Polarizing Filter for high contrast.
